NLIU Bhopal PhD Programs
The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (NLIU) invites applications in the prescribed application form for admission to both Full Time & Part Time:
- Ph. D. in Law
- Ph.D. (Inter-disciplinary)
- Ph.D. in Cyber Law and Information Security
Teaching Assistantship
Teaching Assistantship may be provided to non-JRF candidates after completion of their coursework for two years.
Number of Seats
The number of seats in each category of Ph.D. shall be decided on the basis of availability of supervisors at the time of admission.
NLIU Bhopal PhD Admission 2022 Eligibility Criteria
| PhD in Law | LL.M. Degree with 55% Marks or equivalent grade in the aggregate for General candidates and 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST/OBC (non- creamy layer)/ PwD candidates. |
| PhD (Inter-Disciplinary) | Post Graduate degree in the relevant discipline with 55% Marks in the aggregate for General candidates and 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ PwD candidates and LL.B. degree or its equivalent viz. B.L./B.A.LL.B/B.Com.LL.B/B.Sc.LL.B. The research proposal shall have a definite bearing on Law or Public Policy; |
| PhD in Cyber Law and Information Security | LL.M./MCLIS/M.S./M.Sc. (IT or Cyber Security/Cyber Forensic)/M. Tech (CSE/IT/Cyber Security/Cyber Forensic) or equivalent Degree for Ph.D. in Cyber Law and Information Security with 55% Marks or equivalent grade in the aggregate for General candidates and 50% marks in the aggregate for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ PwD candidates; as the case may be. |
For Ph.D. (Part Time)
For Ph.D. (Part Time) the candidates, in addition to the above, will have the following eligibility condition:
- Ten years’ experience in Academic/Industry/Administration

NLIU Bhopal PhD Admission 2022 Application Process
- The candidate shall ensure that the application form must be submitted online at www.admission.nliu.ac.in.
- In case a candidate is eligible for more than one course, he/she may apply separately for the Ph.D. courses
- Application Fee of Rs. 1,500 (One Thousand Five Hundred Only) and in case a candidate belonging to reserve category Rs 1000/- (Rupees One Thousand only).
- Duly filled in application forms must reach the office of the undersigned on or before 25th April 2020, by Registered/Speed-Post Only.
Admission Procedure
Candidates to Ph.D. Program shall be admitted through All India Entrance Test which consists of All India Written Test followed by Personal Interview.
The candidates without NET/SLET/JRF are eligible for admission to Ph.D. program but shall appear in the All India Entrance Test and the Personal Interview organised by the NLIU Bhopal on the notified date and time.
The candidates who have qualified UGC NET/JRF/SLET need not to appear in All India Written Test, but shall have to appear for interview before the Interview Board on the notified date and time.
Entrance Details
For candidates of Ph.D. in Law (Both Full Time & Part Time)
The All India Written Test shall be conducted based on the following papers for a total of 100 marks:
- Constitutional Law
- Jurisprudence
- Research Methodology
- International Law
- Human Rights Law
- Family Law
- Business Law
- Intellectual Property Law
- Environmental Law
- Criminal Law
Ph.D. in Inter-disciplinary Research in Law (Both Full Time & Part Time)
The All India Written Test shall be conducted based on the following papers for a total of 100 marks:
- Constitutional Law
- Research Methodology
- Sociology
- Legal History
- Political Science
- English
Ph.D. in Cyber Law and Information Security (Both Full Time & Part Time)
The All India Written Test shall be based on the following papers for a total of 100 marks:
- Research Methodology
- Cyber Law
- Information Security
- Fundamentals of Information Technology
