Important Dates for RRI Bangalore PhD Admission 2024

Eligibility Criteria

Regular MSc degree in Physics/Mathematics or M.E./M.Tech degree in engineering with a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/OBC candidates) in aggregate or equivalent for the qualifying degree.

Students those who are going to complete their final degree in the academic year 2023-2024 may also apply, provided they can produce their final scorecard at the time of admission.

Scholarships

• Students are paid a scholarship as per DST Rules or funding agency rules.
• In addition, they are paid a book grant totaling of Rs.50,000/- in five years.
• Hostel accommodation, if available, or HRA at applicable rate will be provided for a period of five years.
• RRI encourages and supports participation of students in national and international conferences.

Application Process

All candidates need to apply online for admission at RRI website.

The online application will start only after the result of JEST, CSIR-UGC NET and GATE exam are announced

Selection Procedure

The Candidates seeking admission are called for a written test and/or interview based on:

Performance in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)

or

Performance in CSIR-UGC NET for JRF (Physics) or in subject GRE (Physics) or score in GATE (Physics/Mathematics) or GRE (Physics) with a valid score.

Final Selection

The final selection of all the candidates is based on performance in the interviews to be held at RRI tentatively during May – June 2024.

Call letters for interviews will be sent around second or third week of May 2024.

Outstation candidates from SC/ST/OBC/EWS categories will be paid a round trip sleeper class train fare as TA reimbursement on their visit to RRI for Interviews.
