University of Rajasthan PhD Admission 2024 Eligibility Criteria

  • A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4-semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or
  • equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
  • A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.
  • Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the Commission from time to time.

UNIRAJ MPAT 2021 & 2022 Details

Scheme of Examination of Uniraj-MPAT Exam for PhD

Uniraj-PAT conducted by the University for each Ph.D. programme will be based on the syllabus for the Entrance Test notified by the University of Rajasthan for the particular course. The syllabus will be notified on the basis of recommendation of the Academic Council.

There shall be one paper in Uniraj-PAT comprising of two Sections. Section I will consist of 75 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) (One mark for each question) based on Research Methodology of the concerned faculty. Section- II will consist of 75 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) (One mark for each question) from the subject concerned. The test shall be of 2 hours duration. There will be no negative marking.

The syllabus of Uniraj-PAT will be as follows:

Section I: The syllabus of Section-I will consist of Research Methodology related to the concerned Faculty. The syllabus of Section-I will be recommended by a committee consisting of Dean of concerned Faculty (Convener) and Convener(s) of BOS/COC of subjects in the Faculty and will be notified on the University website after due approval of the Academic Council and Syndicate.

Section II: The syllabus of Section-II shall be subject specific, intended to assess the domain knowledge of the candidate The syllabus of Section-II will be recommended by concerned Board of Studies or Committee of Courses and will be notified on the University website after due approval of the Academic Council and Syndicate.

The panel of examiners for Section-1 of Uniraj-PAT will be given by Dean of concerned faculty. The panel of examiners for Section-II of Uniraj-PAT examination will be given by Convener(s) of BOS/COC of concerned subject.

Cutoff

A weightage of 70% for the entrance test (Uniraj-PAT) and 30% for performance in interview, will be given. Students who secure 50% marks in Uniraj-PAT will be eligible to be called for interview. A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC/ MBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled category/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS), and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University from time to time.

The call for Interview shall be made to two times the number of Ph.D seats available in the concerned Department/ Centre. In very special circumstances, additional candidates -can-be-called for interview-by-the-Department, for which proper justification will be provided by the DRC. The candidates will be selected according to the number of seats available in the category. They will be called for interview by the Department Research Committee of the concerned Department/Centre.

Eligibility Criteria

For PhD Admission

  • Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the University of Rajasthan, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade/CGPA in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) or an equivalent degree from a foreign educational Institution accredited by an Assessment and Accreditation Agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country for the purpose of assessing, accrediting or assuring quality and standards of educational institutions. Such Agency should be approved, recognized by the Government of India.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ MBC (noncreamy layer)/EWS/Differently-Abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the University from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991.
  • The eligibility marks of 55% (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) and the relaxation of 5% to the categories mentioned above are permissible based only on the qualifying marks without including the grace mark procedures.

Admission Procedure

For PhD

  • The admission process in Ph.D. programmes will be completed in one phase only.
  • However, direct admission to teacher candidates may be given without requirement of appearing in Uniraj-MPAT examination.
  • Admission to different Ph.D. Programme for University and affiliated colleges shall be made through an Entrance Test – University of Rajasthan M.Phil. / Ph.D. Admission Test (Uniraj-MPAT) conducted by the University.
  • The candidate will have to obtain minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Paper-I and Paper-II to be eligible for admission in Ph.D. programme. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 50% to 45%, will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (noncreamy layer)/ MBC (non-creamy layer)/EWS/Differently-Abled.

Weightage

Weightagefor those students who qualify UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. programme (which will be calculated on the basis of the total maximum marks in both papers i.e. Paper-I and Paper-II of Uniraj MPAT Exam)-

  • 10 marks will be given to only Uniraj-MPAT qualified UGC NET JRF/ CSIR NET JRF scholars in the concerned Subject / Faculty.
  • 07 marks will be given to only Uniraj-MPAT qualified M.Phil. passed scholars in the concerned Subject / Faculty.
  • 05 marks will be given to only Uniraj-MPAT qualified UGC NET/ CSIR NET /SLET /GATE /INSPIRE scholars OR equivalent examination in the concerned Subject /Faculty.

UNIRAJ MPAT Details

Scheme of Examination of Uniraj-MPAT Exam for PhD

There will be two papers for each Ph.D. programme and examination for both the papers shall be conducted in a single session of 3 hours duration. Duration of the Paper – I will be one hour and duration of the Paper – II will be two hours.

Paper-I

  • PAPER-I shall contain questions pertaining to research methodology and General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc.
  • The syllabus of Paper-I will be common to all streams.
  • The maximum marks allotted for Paper – I will be 100. The syllabus of Paper – I will be notified on the University website after due approval of the Academic Council and Syndicate.
  • This paper will be common to all streams with fifty (50) multiple choice questions related to Research Methodology and General Aptitude with emphasis on logical reasoning, graphical analysis, analytical and numerical ability, quantitative comparison, series formation, puzzles etc. with one correct answer of each question. Each candidate will have to attempt 50 questions and each correct answer will be awarded two marks.
  • The candidate will have to obtain minimum 40% marks in the Paper – I failing which Paper – II will not be evaluated. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 40% to 35%, will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ MBC (non-creamy layer)/EWS/Differently-Abled.

Paper-II

  • Paper – II (Based on Subject) shall be intended to assess the domain knowledge of the candidate. The syllabus of Paper-II will be recommended by concerned Board of Studies or Committee of Courses and will be notified on the University website after due approval of the Academic Council and Syndicate.
  • One hundred (100) multiple choice questions with their correct answers will be asked. The maximum marks allotted for Paper-II will be 200. Correct answer will be awarded two marks.
  • There will not be any negative marking in paper-I and paper-II.  

Overall Cutoff

  • The candidate will have to obtain minimum 50% marks in aggregate in Paper-I and Paper-II to be eligible for admission in Ph.D. programme.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 50% to 45%, will be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (noncreamy layer)/ MBC (non-creamy layer)/EWS/Differently-Abled.
