Eligibility Criteria for Sambalpur University PhD Admission 2022-23
A candidate, who has obtained Master’s Degree in the concerned subject from Sambalpur University or from any other University / Institute recognized by Sambalpur University or such Degree as may be considered equivalent for this purpose by Sambalpur University with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade), shall be eligible for admission into the Ph.D. Programme.
However, candidates belonging to SC/ST/Differently-Abled categories and those who obtained their Master’s Degree prior to 19th September,1991 shall be given a relaxation of 05% marks at Master’s Degree level.
In-service candidates will have to submit a No-objection certificate from their employers, failing which their application will be rejected.

Sambalpur University PhD Admission 2022-23 (2nd Phase) Application Process
Visit the University website www.suniv.ac.in for submitting the application online.
Read instructions given there carefully before filling application form.
The candidate should deposit Rs.2000/- as processing fee through State Bank Collect(click here to pay online).
Keep a soft copy of your Passport Size Photograph (Maximum dimension of 300×400 px. and size of 50kB), to upload with the form.
Go to New Registration link and fill all the required fields (Please remember the details and do not disclose to others.)
First register your self by clicking on ‘Register to apply Online’ with SB Collect Reference No. (Provided by the Bank) then login to apply
In case the marks are in Grade convert to equivalent percentage for 10th and +2 and write 1st class / 2nd class / 3rd class.
After submitting the form successfully, take a print out of the Form, staple attested copies of your photographs along with all relevant documents send it to The Chairman, P.G. Council Office, Sambalpur University, Jyoti Vihar Burla-768019, Dist. Sambalpur, Odisha. The envelope must be superscribed as “Application for Ph.D. Admission into Course Subject and Index No.____”. The other copy of the Form should be with the Student.

Sambalpur University PhD Admission 2022-23 (2nd Phase) Selection Process
Candidates, not exempted will have to appear the Entrance Test and will have to secure a minimum of 50% marks in the Entrance Test in order to be eligible for the Viva-Voce Test at the Nodal Centre for the subject concerned.
The final merit list of the successful candidates shall be prepared by assigning weightage of 70 marks to the candidates past academic career and 30 marks to the Viva-Voce Test.
At the time of Viva-Voce the candidates are expected to discuss their research interest / area. For qualifying, a candidate needs to secure at least 15 marks in the Viva voce Test.
Exemption From Entrance Test
The following categories of candidates shall be exempted from Entrance Test. However they will have to appear the Viva-Voce Test.
Candidates, who have qualified in UGC/CSIR NET Examination, GATE Examination and such Examinations conducted by UGC, lCAR, lCMR, ICSSR and other such National Bodies and candidates who are eligible to get a fellowship from national or state level organizations with valid period.
Candidates who have passed M. Phil. / M. Tech/ M.D./ MS in the same subject from this University or from other University / Institute recognized by Sambalpur University/ Govt of India/UGC provided that their admission in M. Phil. / M. Tech/ M.D./ MS Programme has been through an entrance examination and they have undertaken course work as has been prescribed in the regulation with Research Methodology as a paper.
A candidate who has successfully passed the 1st Semester Course of M. Phil Programme of Sambalpur University with Research methodology as a paper with a minimum of 6.5 OGPA or 60% marks in aggregate provided that the candidate concerned has cleared PhD. Programme at the time of registration to Ph.D. Programme.
