Eligibility Criteria for Purnea University PhD Admission 2022

• The candidate must have a Master’s degree with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade “B” in aggregate.
• A relaxation of 5% of marks may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/EBC/OBC / PwD.
• A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to pursue research for the PhD degree in the subjects in which he/she holds a Master’s degree / Allied subject from a recognized university.
• Appearing candidates are not eligible for PhD Admission Test 2022.

Application Fee

Selection Process

• Selection will be based on the PhD Admission Test (PAT) 2022 and Interview.
• 20% of the seat in a subject shall be reserved for NET/JRF/DST-INSPIRE Candidates.

Exemption from the PAT 2022

• A candidate who have secured grants for research such as fellowship/ scholarship/associateship etc. by qualifying UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET/ GATE/ MHRD Scholarship/ Techer Fellowship/ DBT/ICMR/ICAR/ DST/CSSIR/ ICHR etc. will be exempted from Ph.D. Admission Test.
• Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor who have been appointed on a substantive post in the UGC Pay scale in the teaching Department of the University or a Constituent College of this University, who have completed their probation successfully, with an experience of at least of two years of uninterrupted service would be exempted from the written Test. Teachers appointed in self-finance Courses and teachers belonging to those colleges running on a self-finance basis will not be exempted from the Test.
• Non-teaching employees of this University, who are holding substantive appointments for more than five years and have secured at least 55% marks in Master’s Degree in the subject concerned, and who have published at least two research papers in any reputed referred journals or journals identified by the UGC would also be exempted from the written Test.

• Candidates exempted from PAT 2022 are also required to apply online with requisite fee.

Purnea University PhD Admission Test (PAT) 2022 Details

Exam Pattern

PhD Admission Test (PAT) will consist of two papers of 100 marks each

PhD Admission Test Schedule

• Date: will be announced later
• Paper 1- 11 AM to 12 Noon
• Paper 2- 02 PM to 04 PM

Test Centre

• Test will be held in Purnea/Katihar district, which will be communicated to the candidates on time.

Interview

Interview will be of 20 marks. It is mandatory for all including exempted candidates from PAT to appear before the interview board.

Minimum Qualifying marks will be as follows-

• For General Candidates – 50% aggregate marks
• For Reserved Category Candidates – 45% aggregate marks
