Qualifying Examinations

• The criteria for qualifying examination for each of the Ph. D. Program is given in Eligibility conditions for admission to Ph.D. Program in UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph. D. Degree) Regulation 2022 and Nilamber-Pitambar University, Medininagar Act and its Statutes.

Relaxations/Concessions

• The candidates belonging to the categories (SC/ST/EWS/PwD) under reservation shall be charged Ph. D. entrance Test (PET) examination fee at concessional rates.
• The candidates belonging to the categories of SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently- able, Economically Weaker Section (EWS) under reservation shall have 5% relaxation in the minimum marks requirement in the eligibility criterion for admission to Ph. D. Programs.
• The merit list for the unreserved category seats will comprise all the candidates in the order of merit including candidates under reserved category, if they come in the unreserved merit. A candidate under reserved category, who figures in the unreserved merit list, is entitled to be considered for admission under the unreserved category. Admission to open category seats will be strictly in the order of merit without excluding candidates belonging to reserved category.
• Reservation to theprescribed extent shall apply incompliance with therules notified by theUniversity.

• All the candidates seeking admission to the Ph.D. Program are required to apply through the prescribed Application Form, which may be downloaded from the NPU website www.npu.ac.in
• Please ascertain that all the details given in the form are complete and correct,because the same will be used throughout the admission procedure.
• The Application Fee can be paid through Demand Draft in favor of Registrar, Nilamber- Pitamber University, payable at Daltonganj.
• The completely filled Application Form must reach by post or by hand to The Registrar, Nilamber- Pitamber University, Medininagar, Palamu, Jharkhand – 822102 before 5:00 pm of 22.02.2023. Also the applicants are advised to send/ mailed a scanned copy of their filled up application form to Email address: npupet2023@gmil.com
• The application will be considered complete only after the realization of payment.
• Candidates shall go through― “Procedure for Admission “of the UGC (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph. D. Degree) Regulation. 2022 and Nilamber-Pitambar University, Medininagar Act and its Statutes to check if they are exempted from appearing in the Entrance Test.

Group A – Research Methodology (Common for All Subjects)

Group A will contain 50 multiple choice objective type questions consisting of 1 mark each.

• Introduction of Research Methodology: Meaning of Research, Objectives of Research, Research Methods.
• Types of Research: Descriptive vs. Analytical Research, Applied vs. Fundamental Research,Quantitative vs. Qualitative Research, Conceptual vs. Empirical Research
• Research Process: Basic Overview, Literature Review, Formulating the Research Problem, Hypothesis, Research Questions, Research Methodology
• Data Collection: Primary and Secondary Data, Sampling Method, Observation Method, Interview Method, Questionnaires, Case Study Method, Historical Method, Processing and Analysis of Data, Interpretation of Data/ Results, Conclusions/Findings.
• Research Writing: Synopsis, Article/Research Paper, Research Project, Thesis, Dissertation, Book, Book-Review, Case Review, Criteria of Good Research, Plagiarism
• Citation Style & Methods: MLA, APA, Text Note, End Note, Footnotes, Bibliography, References.
• Basic Computer Concept: MS Office, MS Excel, PPT, INTERNET.

Group B – Subject Specific

Group B will contain 50 multiple choice objective type questions consisting of 1 mark each from subject specific.

• Syllabus of Ph. D. Entrance Test (PET) for subject specific is same as the syllabus of Post Graduate Courses of Nilamber- Pitamber University, Medininagar and the same may be downloaded from NPU Website https://npu.ac.in

Interview

Interview is mandatory for all candidates including those candidates who are exempted from Entrance Test- 2023 (PET-2023).

Nilamber Pitamber University PhD Entrance Admit Card

• The Admit Card is issued provisionally to the candidates, subject to their satisfying the eligibility conditions.
• The candidate has to obtain their Admit Card for PET – 2023 from the Control Room of NPU Ph. D. Entrance Test- 2023(PET-2023) at G. L.A. College, Medininagar on 20.03.2023 and 21.03.2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 05:00 p.m.
• Candidates have to appear for the Examination at the given Centre on Date and Time as indicated in their Admit Card.
• No candidate will be allowed to appear in the examination after 30 minutes of starting the examination.
• The candidates are advised to read the instructions on the Admit Card carefully and follow them during the conduct of the examination.
• No Admit Card shall be issued to the candidates whose Applications are found to be incomplete for any reasons (including indistinct/ doubtful photographs/unsigned Applications) or who do not fulfill the eligibility criteria for the examination.
• Issue of Admit Cards, however, shall not necessarily mean acceptance of eligibility which shall be further scrutinized at subsequent stages of admission process.

Important Instructions

• Candidates are advised to go through Instructions printed on Admit Card carefully before going for the Examination.
• Candidates MUST bring the following documents on the day of examination at the test centre. Candidates who will not bring these will not be allowed to appear in the examination.
  • Admit Card of Ph. D. Entrance Test-2023 (PET-2023) issued by Nilamber-Pitamber University, Medininagar.
  • Any one of the authorized Government photo IDs (original, valid and non-expired), viz. PAN card/ Driving License/Voter ID/ Passport/ Aadhaar Card (With photograph).
