Eligibility Criteria for NERIST PhD Admission 2023-24

• Master’s Degree in Engineering & Technology with minimum 60% marks in aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on 10.00-point scale and 55% marks in aggregate in Science/Humanities for General category. Relaxation 5% marks will be given to ST/SC/PWD category in both the cases.  
• Candidates those who are in employment /service, need to submit NOC from their employer. 
• A relaxation of 5% will be given to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD categories.

NERIST PhD Admission 2023-24 Application Process

Candidates must apply for NEPGET 2023 “ONLINE” ONLY by logging in the website www.neeonline.ac.in or www.nerist.ac.in

Steps to be followed for filling the online application:

• Step 1: Register for the online application process at www.neeonline.ac.in or www.nerist.ac.in
• Step 2: Activate your online Application with the Email ID
• Step 3: Selection of the Program Type & Name. Check & confirm the eligibility.
• Step 4: Upload a scanned image file of Photograph and Signature.
• Step 5: Fill the Academic details. After reviewing the details submit the application.
• Step 5: Then pay the application fees through online mode only.

Admission Process

• Candidates have to appear for PhD entrance written examination.
• A candidate with valid GATE score/NET including JRF (UGC/CSIR/ICAR)/SLET/Lecturer fellowship and M.Phil. will be exempted from entrance examination for admission in PhD However, they have to mandatorily appear in the interview conducted by the respective Departments/Centre.
• List of the candidates exempted from written test and qualified candidates in written test shall be provided by the admission Committee to the respective HoD/HoC.
• The selection will be based on a weightage of 70% for the written test and 30% for the performance in the interview
• Interview/viva-voce shall be conducted by the respective department. There shall be no marks on Interview/viva-voce. However, Department shall consider the following aspect.
  • The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research work.
  • The research area can be suitably undertaken at the institute level.
  • The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge.
• Final list of selected candidates will be provided by the Department to the Chairman PG and Ph.D. Admission Committee.

Entrance Exam Pattern

Syllabus

There will be two sections in exam – Section A and Section B

Section A – Section A will be common for all Departments. Questions in Section-A will be from Research Methodology of 50 marks.

Section B – questions in Section-B will be respective subjects of 50 marks.

Cut off Marks

The cut-off to qualify the written test will be 50 marks including both the sections A and B. A relaxation of 5% marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (NCL)/Differently-abled/EWS categories.

Admit Card

• Candidates can download the Admit Card from the website
• No separate letter will be sent for the written test/ viva-voce/ Interview. 

Scholarship

The Institute provides a limited number of fellowships for full-time PhD scholars who have qualified GATE/NET according to Institute regulations, and the Institute’s decision on this matter will be considered final.

However, PhD candidates may also apply for several other fellowships, including NFST, INSPIRE, UGC-NET JRF, CSIR-NET JRF, based on their eligibility.
