MJPRU PhD Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates for the admission to the PhD programme should have a Master’s degree or a professional degree declared equivalent to the Master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent “B” grade in the UGC 7-point scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed).
  • A relaxation of 5% marks from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST and OBC (Non creamy layer), differently-abled and other categories of candidates as per the decision of the state government/University from time to time, or for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991.
  • A candidate shall ordinarily be permitted to pursue research for Ph.D. degree in the subject in which he/she holds Master’s degree. For post graduate degree in allied/interdisciplinary subjects, eligibility would be ascertained as per Ph.D. Ordinance of the university.

MJPRU PhD Admission 2023 Application Process

  • Applications are to be filled and submitted ONLINE at www.mjpru.ac.in or www.mjprudor.ac.in.
  • Candidates are required to upload recent passport size photograph, scanned signature and scanned copies of supporting documents.
  • The RET registration fee payment can be done through online using Net Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card.
  • A valid caste and income (father/family) certificates should be uploaded, where applicable.
  • Candidates have to produce printout of the submitted application along with the supporting documents at the time of interview, if they declared qualified in RET.

Selection Process

  • Candidates will be selected on the basis of entrance test & Interview.
  • JRF Candidates are exempted from entrance test & have to appear for interview.

MJPRU Research Entrance Test (RET) 2023 Details

(Expected Pattern)

  • There shall be two papers in Research Entrance Test (RET) each of 2 hrs duration.
  • The first paper shall be designed to evaluate the comprehensive knowledge and research aptitude of the candidate and shall be based on objective and multiple-choice questions.
  • The second paper shall be for assessing the subject proficiency of the candidate. Each question paper shall be of 100 marks having 100 multiple choice questions.
  • The RET shall have the minimum qualifying marks as 50 % (taken together both papers jointly), provided that for the candidates belonging to scheduled caste/scheduled tribe/other backward class (non-creamy layer)/differentially able category, there shall be a relaxation of 5% (45% in place of 50%) in research entrance test (RET) .
  • The syllabus of the RET will be same as prescribed for the NET examination of UGC/ CSIR.
  • However, for the subjects where NET examination is not conducted e.g. (i) Pharmacy and Engineering, where syllabus of GPAT and GATE shall be effective, respectively (ii) for subjects like statistics and other similar subjects the syllabus shall be prescribed by the University.

MJPRU PhD Admission 2021

MJPRU PhD Admission 2021 Selection Process

  • Candidates with Masters or equivalent degree must appear in a written entrance exam conducted by the University in order to be eligible for interview.
  • Based on the performance in the written test, which is the qualifying exam, the shortlisted candidates shall appear for an interview.
  • The applicants appearing for the RET would be required to pass/ appearing/appeared in final examination of P.G. degree in respective disciplines to be eligible for consideration for admission across all the categories.
  • Appropriate number of candidates as decided by the University, in order of merit secured in the Entrance test, would be called for interview as per the subject-wise available number of Ph.D. vacancies subject to fulfilling the criteria of minimum eligibility.

Exemption from RET

Following category of Candidates shall be exempted from appearing in Research Entrance Test (RET):

  • Candidates who have cleared a national level examination like JRF/CSIR/JEST/ GPAT/GATE/NET or equivalent national or international scholarship holders /or have cleared equivalent U.P. SLET (U.P. State Lecturer entrance test), may appear for interview without appearing in the Research Entrance Test (RET). However, all such candidates have to fill online application form prescribed by the University.
  • Permanent Assistant Professors, Associate Professors and Professors having appointment on substantive posts in the Teaching departments of the M.J.P. Rohilkhand University or in the government aided college affiliated to the university who have completed their probation successfully with an experience of at least two years of uninterrupted service would be considered under this category. Teachers appointed in Private colleges which run on Self finance basis shall not be exempted from the RET.
  • Serving army, Navy or Air force Officers of at least Colonel or equivalent rank with not less than 15 years of service applying for Ph.D. in defence and strategic studies will also be exempted from the RET.

Note: Candidates who are exempted from the RET are also have to submit their application online with the applicable fee.
