Eligibility Criteria for MGU Kerala PhD Admission 2022

  • Master’s degree or equivalent professional degree in the concerned or related discipline with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or an equivalent grade.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55% to 50%, or an equivalent relaxation of grade, is allowed for Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC (Non-creamy layer) / OEC/Differently-abled candidates.
  • Candidates awaiting results of their PG Examinations can also apply, but they shall submit the Provisional / Original Certificate within seven days of publication of results of Ph.D Written Aptitude Test. The validity of the results of the candidates of the Ph.D Aptitude Test will be two years from the date of publication of the Test results.
  • All the candidates who desire to apply for Ph.D. admission in the University Schools/Departments/Inter University Centres and approved Research Centres have to appear for the Aptitude/Entrance Test (except the categories, who are exempted).
  • Candidates who are exempted from appearing for the Aptitude/Entrance Test for Ph.D Programme, 2022 need not apply now.

MGU Kerala PhD Admission 2022 Application Process

  • Candidates shall apply for the Aptitude/Entrance Test for Ph.D Programme, 2022, Online, by accessing the University Website https://phd.mgu.ac.in
  • Within Fourteen days, after the publication of the provisional result of the examination, a copy of the print out of the Online application form along with self attested photocopies of the documents should be submitted by the qualified applicants to the Assistant Registrar XXI (Exams), Mahatma Gandhi University, P.D. Hills – 686 560.

  • Entrance Test (ET)
  • Doctoral Interview

Exemption from Entrance Test

The following categories of candidates are exempted from passing Entrance Test :

  • JRF awardees.
  • UGC Teacher Fellows
  • M.Phil. & M.Tech. (all discipline), MD, MS, MDS (Modern Medicine, Homoeopathy and Ayurveda) Degree holders in the subject of research concerned.
  • Regular and permanent teachers from the University Departments and the Government/Aided Colleges in Kerala.
  • Candidates who have qualified in the NET/ SLET/ GATE/ GPAT/ JEST/ RGNF or other tests conducted by such Government bodies as UGC, CSIR, ICAR/ ICMR.
  • DST Women Scientist Awardees
  • KSCST/INSPIRE/MANF Fellowship Awardees
  • Scientists from the Accredited R & D Institutions
  • Teachers working in Self-Financing Colleges under the control of Government, with three years of
  • continuous teaching experience.

MGU Kerala PhD Entrance Test 2022

  • Duration of Examination : 3 Hrs
  • Maximum Marks : 100 Marks

Pattern

PART -A

  • Objective Type Questions  (50 Nos.) Covering various areas of the subject: 50 Marks (1 mark for each question)

PART -B

  • Short answer questions: 14 Numbers : 50 Marks
  • (Out of which 10 numbers  have to be answered, 5 marks for each question) For assessing advanced knowledge in Research Methodology

Admission Procedure

Admission to the Ph.D. Programs will be made on the basis of 

  • Entrance Test (ET)
  • Doctoral Interview

Those who will pass the Entrance Test with minimum 50% marks will be called for a Doctoral Interview. A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 50% to 45%, in the Entrance Test, is allowed to Candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC (Non-creamy layer), Differently-abled candidates.

The selection will be on the basis of the marks obtained for the Doctoral Interview.

Only candidates who score 50% marks will be recommended for registration for Ph.D. Program. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks required are 45%.

Exemption from Entrance Test

The following categories of candidates are exempted from passing Entrance Test :

  • UGC / CSIR / KSCSTE / DST / INSPIRE / DBT / MANF / RGNF Fellowship Awardees.
  • Candidates who have qualified in the NET / SLET / GATE / GPAT / JEST or other tests conducted by Government bodies such as UGC, CSIR, ICAR, ICSSR and ICMR.
  • DST Women Scientist Awardees.
  • Candidates under Visweswaraya Ph.D. Scheme.
  • Scientists from accredited R&D Institutions.
  • M.Phil. degree holders in the subject concerned.
  • M.Phil. candidates awaiting results as per clause 3.5.
  • M.Tech. / M.Arch. or equivalent degree holders in the concerned or related subjects.
  • M.D. / M.S. /M.D.S. (Modern Medicine, Ayush disciplines and Dentistry) degree holders in the subject concerned or related subject, in the case of interdisciplinary research.
  • Regular and permanent teachers from the University Departments, Inter-University Centres or Inter-School Centres.
  • Regular and permanent teachers from the Government/Aided Colleges in the state.
  • Foreign students duly selected by MoU or recommended by UCIC.
  • Regular and permanent teachers of Self Financing colleges under the control of government, with at least 3 years of continuous service.
  • Regular and permanent teachers of Self Financing colleges affiliated to MGU, with at least 3 years of continuous service.
