Harish Chandra Research Institute – HRI PhD Physics Program 2022

• The Harish Chandra Research Institute, Allahabad conducts PhD program in physics.
• Ph.D. program is open to students with an M.Sc. degree in physics.
• Candidates for these programs will be selected through the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST), followed by an interview. In addition, students who have qualified the Joint CSIR – UGC NET June 2021 examination would be considered for the interview.

HRI PhD Physics Admission 2022 Eligibility Criteria & Cutoff

• Those who are seeking admission to the Ph. D. program should have at least 60% aggregate marks at the master’s degree level.
• For PhD program in HRI, candidates with rank up to 108 (i.e., percentile 97.88 and above) in JEST 2022 are eligible to appear for the interview.
• Students who have qualified the Joint CSIR – UGC Net June 2021 examination and have become eligible for a CSIR – UGC JRF fellowship in Physics, with rank up to 108, are also eligible to attend the interview for admission to the Ph.D. program in physics at HRI.
• Students pursuing M.Sc. program at HRI, who have CGPA 6 or higher, and will be completing their M.Sc. in the academic year 2021-2022 are also eligible to attend the interview.

HRI PhD Physics Admission Selection & Application Process

• Selection for Ph.D. programs will be based on an online interview using video conferencing tools, that each candidate has to appear for. The interviews will be held on June 13, 14, 16, and 17, 2022.
• Please confirm your participation latest by May 13, 2022 by sending an email to physjest@hri.res.in. When you write to physjest@hri.res.in, please send an email id (this must be a gmail id) and phone number where you can be contacted. JEST qualified students should send their JEST rank, whereas CSIR – UGC NET qualified students should send the soft copy of their result indicating the rank secured by them.

Cutoff & Eligibility

• For PhD program in HRI, candidates with rank up to 102 (i.e., percentile 98.02 and above) in JEST 2021 are eligible to appear for the interview. Those who are seeking admission to the Ph. D. program should have at least 60% aggregate marks at the masters degree level.
• Students who have qualified the NET examinations held on November 19, 21, and 26, 2020 and have become eligible for a CSIR – UGC JRF fellowship in Physics, with rank up to 102, are also eligible to attend the interview for admission to the Ph.D. program in physics at HRI.
• Students pursuing M.Sc. program at HRI, who have CGPA 6 or higher, and will be completing their M.Sc. in the academic year 2020-2021 are also eligible to attend the interview.

Cutoff & Eligibility

• For PhD program in HRI, candidates with rank up to 101 (i.e., percentile 98.62 and above) in JEST 2020 are eligible to appear for the interview. Those who are seeking admission to the Ph. D. program should have at least 60% aggregate marks at the masters and at least 55% aggregate marks at the bachelor’s degree level.
• Students who have qualified the NET examinations held during 2019 (i.e., either June 2019 or December 2019) and have become eligible for a CSIR – UGC JRF fellowship in Physics, with rank up to 101, are also eligible to attend the interview for admission to the Ph.D. program in physics at HRI.
• Students pursuing M.Sc. program at HRI, who have CGPA 6 or higher, and will be completing their M.Sc. in the academic year 2019-20 are also eligible to attend the interview.
• You can opt for an interview slot in one of the interview rounds.
