Eligibility Criteria for HBTU Kanpur PhD Admission 2022-23

School of Engineering

• M. Tech. / M. E. Degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA/CPI. or
• B. Tech. degree with minimum 75% marks with 2 years professional experience. or
• MCA degree with a minimum of 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA/CPI for MCA Stream (Eligible for pursuing Ph.D. in CSE Engineering Department).

School of Chemical Technology

• M. Tech. / M. E. degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA /CPI. or
• B. Tech. degree with minimum 75% marks with 2 years professional experience. or
• M. Sc. degree with minimum 60% marks in Chemistry / Industrial Chemistry / Applied Chemistry / Bio Technology or equivalent

School of Basic & Applied Sciences

• M. Sc. degree in relevant discipline with a minimum of 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA / CPI

School of Humanities & Social Sciences

• Master degree in relevant discipline / subject with a minimum of 60 % marks or equivalent CGPA / CPI

Note:

• A relaxation of 5% of marks in minimum qualifying marks is permissible (without grace marks) to candidates belonging to SC / ST / OBC-NCL / PwD categories for admissions to Ph.D. programmes.
• A University Fellowship of Rs. 15000 per month for a maximum period of three years will be granted to all Full-time PhD students.

HBTU Kanpur PhD Admission 2022-23 Application Process

• Candidates can apply online through the link available on official website https://hbtu.ac.in/
• Read all the instructions carefully before filling up the form.
• If the result of the qualifying examination has not been declared till the date of the document verification due to any reason, whatsoever, such candidate shall not be eligible for admission under any circumstances.

Selection Process

• Candidates will have to appear in Written Examination/ Interviews for Ph.D. admission.
• Candidates with valid UGC-NET / CSIR-NET score card who have eligibility for UGC / CSIR Fellowship for PhD (Not for Lecturership) will be preferred over others for admission and they will not be required to appear in the Written Examination. However, they are required to appear for the interviews.

HBTU Kanpur PhD Entrance Exam Details

• The candidates will be required to qualify in Written Examination comprising of Paper I & II.
• The contents of the Paper-I will have thrust on testing the skills of data interpretation, language proficiency, reasoning and logic design, research aptitude etc.
• Paper-II shall be subject specific.
• Both the papers will contain multiple choice type questions.
• A candidate is required to obtain an aggregate of 50 percent marks or more in Paper I & II to be called for interview.
• Weightage of Written Examination and Interview is 70 percent and 30 percent, respectively.
