GKV Haridwar PhD Admission 2023 Eligibility Criteria

• A 1-year/2-semester master’s degree programme after a 4- year/8-semester bachelor’s degree programme or a 2-year/4- semester master’s degree programme after a 3-year bachelor’s degree programme or qualifications declared equivalent to the master’s degree by the corresponding statutory regulatory body, with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or Equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of the educational institution.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS)/Staff Ward (SW) of Gurukula Kangri (DU).
• Provided that a candidate seeking admission after a 4-year/8- semester bachelor’s degree programme should have a minimum of 75% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade on a point scale wherever the grading system is followed. A relaxation of 5% marks or its equivalent grade may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled/ Economically Weaker Section (EWS)/Staff Ward (SW) of Gurukula Kangri (DU).
• Candidates who have completed the M.Phil. programme with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed or equivalent qualification from a foreign educational institution accredited by an assessment and accreditation agency which is approved, recognized or authorized by an authority, established or incorporated under a law in its home country or any other statutory authority in that country to assess, accredit or assure quality and standards of educational institutions, shall be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme

Part Time PhD Programme Eligibility

The eligibility criteria for part time Ph.D. programme shall be the same as that for full time Ph.D. Programme. Additionally, the candidates seeking admission in part time Ph.D. programme need to fulfill the following conditions and provide the relevant document along with the application:-

• Candidate working as a regular employee in any Academic/Research Institutions or Government Department (State Govt./Centre Govt./Autonomous) or Public Sector Undertaking/Registered Industry will be eligible for admission to Part-Time Ph.D. Programme.
• The applicant must have been in continues service for at least Three years at the time of submitting the application form for admission and he/she must submit a ‘No Objection Certificate’ from the present employer stating that:
  • He/ she is on the regular payroll of the organization
  • He/ she is permitted to pursue studies for part-time Ph.D. programme

GKV Haridwar PhD Admission 2023 Application Process

• Candidates have to apply online on GKV Website.
• The candidates appearing in the final year of qualifying examination are also eligible to apply. Such candidates will have to compulsorily submit their complete final result of qualifying examination at the time of Interview before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC), failing which their candidature shall stand cancelled.

Selection Process

• Admissions and registration to programmes leading to Degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in various subjects/disciplines shall be done as per UGC norms and as approved by the Academic Council of the Vishwavidyalaya from time to time.
• The admission to the said programme shall be
  • through Research Entrance Test (RET) conducted by the University
  • Direct admission without appearing in RET.
• Those candidates who have passed UGC/CSIR(NET-JRF)/ NET/GATE examination may be considered for Direct Admission to Ph.D. programme without appearing in Research Entrance Test (RET).

GKV Haridwar Research Entrance Test (RET) 2023 Details

• Mode of Examination: Objective/multiple-choice type questions
• Duration of Examination: 2 hours
• Total Marks: 100
• There shall not be any negative marking.
• The Entrance Examination question paper will have following two sections :
  • Section-A Research Methodology & Research Aptitude (50 Questions)
  • Section-B Main Subject (50 Questions)
• Qualifying marks in the entrance test shall be 50% (along with minimum marks in each section as prescribed in the rules and regulations for Ph.D.), provided that a relaxation of 5%of marks (from 50% to 45%) shall be allowed for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layers)/ Differently abled category/Staff ward of GK (DU) in the research entrance test conducted by the university.
• An interview/viva-voce shall be conducted wherein the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before a duly constituted departmental research committee (DRC).
• Admit Card shall be downloaded from University website only. Admit card will not be sent by post.
• RET is only the eligibility test for Ph.D. course. The eligibility of the candidates will be valid for academic session2023-24 only.
• The candidates who have qualified the RET will be called for interview before the Departmental Research Committee (DRC). In the Interview the candidates are required to discuss their research interest/area through a presentation before departmental research committee.
