Eligibility Criteria for GITAM University PhD Admission 2023

Education Qualification

• Candidates should have minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade in the qualifying degree.
• A relaxation of 5% marks or an equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC (Non-creamy layer)/Differently-abled category candidates.
• For discipline wise educational requirement and part time requirements refer to PhD Admissions Brochure.

Service requirements for Part-Time candidates

• Teachers working in PG Departments of recognized Universities and their affiliated Colleges with a minimum of one year of service
• Teachers working in Degree or Professional colleges affiliated to recognized Universities with at least two years of service.
• Teachers working in recognized Junior Colleges with at least three years of service for admission to M.Phil. and four years of service for admission into Ph.D. programmes.
• Executives / Administrators / Engineers / Scientists with at least three years of service in Govt. / Quasi Govt. / Judiciary / Public sector organizations / Public and Private limited companies and other organizations approved by the Board of Research Studies (BRS).
• Employees not covered in the above clauses with at least four years of service as approved by the Board of Research Studies (BRS).

GITAM University PhD Admissions 2023 Selection Process

• Admission to the PhD Programmes will be based on the Online Entrance Test and Interview.
• Following categories candidates will be exempted from Entrance Test –
  • Those who are qualified and possessing a valid score in UGC-NET (including JRF) / UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF) / ICMR / GATE / GPAT / SLET / Teacher Fellowship and M.Phil. Degree holders.
  • Candidates serving as Project Fellows in the projects sanctioned by national funding agencies.  
  • Executives / Engineers / Administrators / Scientists with at least TEN years of service in Govt. / Quasi Govt. / Public sector organizations /  Judiciary / Public and Private limited companies.

GITAM University PhD Entrance Test & Interview Details

Entrance Test

Interview

• Candidates qualifying written test will have to appear for interview.
• Interview shall be conducted for 60 Marks.
• The merit list for admission shall be prepared on the basis of marks obtained together in the entrance test and interview.

GITAM University PhD Admissions 2023 Application Process

• Candidates have to apply on GITAM University website.
• Application fee of Rs. 1000/- (Rupees eight hundred only)

Research Fellowships

Category – I: Dr. M.V.V.S Murthi Research Fellowship:

• The selection will be done by a Selection Committee through an interview, post the admission process. The allocation of Research Fellowship will be based on recommendations of a Selection Committee and subsequent approval by the authorities.
• The duration of the Research Fellowship is normally for a period of 36 months (3 years).
• Fellowship may be extended based on the progress of the research work and recommendations of an appropriate committee.
• The amount of Research Fellowship is INR 15,000 (INR Fifteen Thousand only) per month.
• For the Candidates with a valid score in NET / SLET / GATE examinations, the amount of Research Fellowship is INR 20,000 (INR Twenty Thousand only) per month.

Category – II: GITAM Junior Research Fellowship:

• This Research Fellowship is available to all full-time research scholars of GITAM.
• The allocation of Research Fellowship will be based on the recommendations of a Selection Committee and subsequent approval by the authorities.
• The duration of the Research Fellowship is normally for a period of 36 months (3 years).
• The amount of Research Fellowship is INR 10,000 (INR Ten Thousand only) per month.
• Fellowship may be extended based on the progress of the Research work and Recommendations of an appropriate committee.
