About GATE Exam
GATE or The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an examination that primarily tests the comprehensive understanding of various undergraduate subjects in engineering and science for admission into the Master’s Program and Recruitment by some Public Sector Companies.
Every year GATE Exam is conducted jointly by either of the IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Guwahati, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Madras, and IIT Roorkee on a rotational basis on behalf of the National Coordination Board – GATE, The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education (MoE), Government of India.
- With the GATE score, you can get admission in Master of Engineering (M.E.)/Master of Technology (M.Tech) courses and PhD Programs at various IITs, NITs, IISc, GFTIs, and other reputed Universities.
- GATE scores are also considered by several foreign universities.
- GATE score can be used to apply for prestigious jobs in PSUs, Central Government, GOI Organizations as well as in the Private Sector.

GATE 2022 Notification
IIT Kharagpur has released the official notification for GATE 2022.
Application form for GATE 2022 will be available from 02nd September 2021 to 24th September 2021.
GATE 2022 exam will take place on 5, 6, 12, and 13 February 2022.
What is New in GATE 2022 Exam?
There will be an introduction of two new papers for GATE 2022 Exam.
- Two new papers Marine Engineering & Naval Architecture (NM) as one of the papers, and Geomatics Engineering (GE) will be introduced in GATE 2022 Exam.
- Hence, there will be a total of 29 papers instead of 27 papers in GATE 2022 Exam.

Candidates opting to appear in TWO subject papers must have a primary choice of paper as their default choice. The second choice of paper has to be chosen from the allowed combinations given in the Table above.
Also note that the examination centre of a candidate for the second paper may be different (but in the same city) from that for the first paper due to the infrastructure and scheduling constraints.
GATE 2022 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates who possess the following criteria are eligible to appear in GATE.
A candidate who is currently studying in the 3rd or higher years of any undergraduate degree program.
A candidate who has already completed any government approved degree program in Engineering / Technology / Architecture / Science / Commerce / Arts is eligible for appearing in the GATE 2022 exam.
However, the candidates who possess certification from any of the professional societies must ensure that those examinations conducted by the societies are approved by MoE/AICTE/UGC/UPSC as equivalent to B.E. / B.Tech. / B.Arch. / B.Planning, etc.
Candidates who have obtained / are pursuing their qualifying degree from countries other than India: Must be currently in the 3rd or higher years or completed their Bachelor’s degree (duration: at least 3 years) in Engineering / Technology / Science / Arts / Commerce.

There is no age limit defined to apply for the GATE exam.
GATE 2022 Application Process
GATE registration 2022 will be accepted online only through the GOAPS portal from 30 August 2021.
A candidate appearing in ONE or TWO Papers should fill ONLY ONE application form. In case of multiple applications, only one will be accepted and remaining applications will be rejected without any refund for the paid fee.

GATE Admit Card 2022
The GATE organizing authority will issue the GATE 2022 admit card on 03 Jan 2022.
To download your GATE admit card you need GOAPS Enrollment ID and password.
Make sure you carry your admit card at the exam hall, without the admit card the entry to the exam hall is strictly prohibited.
Steps to Download GATE 2022 Admit Card
- Visit the official GATE 2022 website
- Login by Entering the enrollment number and password.
- Click on the GATE admit card download link.
- Save it and take a printout to be carried while appearing for the exam.
GATE 2022 Result & Score Card
The GATE Result 2022 will be released on 17 March 2022 after the completion of the GATE 2022 exam.
To check your result, you need login credentials (Registration No/Email ID).
If you qualify for the GATE 2022 exam, you will be able to download your GATE score card from the official GATE website.
Please note that the eligibility of your GATE scorecard is Three (3) years from the date of the GATE result.
