Doon University PhD Admission 2023-24 Eligibility Criteria

• Ph.D. Environmental Science
  • Master’s Degree from a recognized University (established/approved by UGC) with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC -7.0 scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the respective subjects Environmental Sciences/ Physical Sciences/Chemical Sciences/Biological Sciences/ /Atmospheric Science/ Meteorology/ Biotechnology/ Microbiology/ Agriculture and the closely related Science discipline.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55 to 50 % or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently – abled).
  • The candidates having qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET (Uttarakhand only)/GATE/teacher fellowship holder or have passed M.Phil. programme in the respective subject with at least one research publication in refereed journal are exempted from appearing in entrance test; however, they will be required to appear for Interview.
• Ph.D. Media & Communication Studies
  • Master’s Degree in Media & Communication, Mass Communication and Journalism from a recognized University (established/approved by UGC) with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC -7.0 scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed). A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55 to 50 % or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently – abled).
  • The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF) are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test; however, they will be required to appear for Interview. The merit list will be prepared as per the UGC regulations and Doon University PhD ordinance.
• Ph.D. Management
  • Master of Management or M.B.A or PGDM (duly recognized by UGC/ AICTE/AIU equivalent) with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC -7.0 scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the respective subject.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55 to 50 % or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently – abled).
  • The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test; however, they will be required to appear for Interview. The merit list will be prepared as per the UGC regulations.
• Ph. D in English/ Spanish/ French/ German
  • Master’s Degree in concerned subject from a recognized University (established/approved by UGC) with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC -7.0 scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the respective subject.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55 to 50 % or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently – abled).
  • The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET /SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test; however, they will be required to appear for Interview. The merit list will be prepared as per the UGC regulations.
• Ph.D. Economics/Psychology
  • Master’s Degree in Economics/Psychology from a recognized University (established/ approved by UGC) with minimum 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade B in the UGC -7.0 scale (or an equivalent grade in a point scale wherever grading system is followed) in the respective subject.
  • A relaxation of 5% of marks, from 55 to 50 % or an equivalent relaxation of grade may be allowed to the candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently – abled).
  • The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET /SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test; however, they will be required to appear for Interview. The merit list will be prepared as per the UGC regulations.
• PhD Physics/ Chemistry/ Computer Science/ Mathematics

The seats will be filled through entrance test. Shortlisted candidates after the written test will be called for interview.
  • The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test, however they will be required to appear for Interview. The merit list will be prepared as per the UGC regulations.

• The seats will be filled through entrance test.
• Shortlisted candidates after the written test will be called for interview.
• Merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained in written test and interview performance.
• The candidates who have qualified UGC-NET (including JRF)/UGC-CSIR NET (including JRF)/SLET/GATE/teacher fellowship holder are exempted from Ph.D. Entrance Test as mentioned in eligibility; however, they will be required to appear for Interview. The merit list will be prepared as per the UGC regulations.

Doon University PhD Entrance Details

All the candidates who have applied for admission in the following programs are hereby informed that the Entrance Test for admission in these programs will be conducted on 17-18 June 2023 (Expected Date).

• Venue – Doon University Campus, Dehradun

Candidates will be required to download the admit card from the website and bring the same on the day of entrance test along with their any of the Photo ID proof, such as Aadhar Card, Voter ID, Driving License etc. at the time of entrance test.

Pattern & Syllabus

• Entrance test paper will be multiple choice question consisting of 100 questions.
• 50% questions of Research Methodology and 50% questions shall be subject specific.
