About THSTI

Translational Health Science and Technology Institute (THSTI) is a part of the inter-disciplinary Biotech Science Cluster at Faridabad in the National Capital Region.

THSTI is designed to be a dynamic and interactive organization with a mission to conduct innovative translational research across disciplines and professions to accelerate the development of concepts into products to improve human health.

THSTI is a recognized R&D institute of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi offering doctoral programs in biomedical science research.

The PhD program at THSTI is governed by JNU rules.

Group – A (With Fellowship):

No. of seats: 9 (UR: 4; OBC: 2; SC: 1; ST: 1; EWS: 1)

Group – B (Without Fellowship):

No. of seats: 2 (SC: 1; ST: 1)

Eligibility Criteria

Criteria for Group – A (With Fellowship)

The candidate must fulfil at least one of the following criteria:

• Should have a Master’s degree in any branch of Biomedical/ Life Sciences (including Veterinary Science, Public Health, Pharmacology, Pharmaceutical Sciences)/ Bioinformatics/ Chemistry/ Physics/ Computer Science or Mathematics/ M. Pharma from a recognised university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade B in the UGC 7-point scale). OR
• B.E./ B. Tech (Computer Science/ Biotechnology/ Biomedical Engineering/ Mechanical/ Electronics/ Electrical Engineering)/ B. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks.
• The candidate must have qualified any of the national level examination mentioned below:
  • JRF examination of CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT (category – I only), NBHM or AYUSHNET which provides fellowship for their Ph.D. Program.
  • Candidates having AYUSH-NET fellowship will conduct research work in the fields related to AYUSH only.

Criteria for Group – B (Without Fellowship)

• The candidate must fulfil atleast one of the following criteria: Should have a Master’s degree in Pharmacology/ Chemistry/ Mathematics/ Physics/ M. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade – B in the UGC 7 – point scale) OR
• B. Pharma from a recognized university with at least 55% marks or its equivalent (e.g.: grade – B in the UGC 7 – point scale).
• Desirable: Those who have cleared the level – I of DST-INSPIRE fellowship (only in Chemistry/ Pharmacology/ Mathematics domain)

Note

• Candidates appearing in the final qualifying examination may also apply. However, they will be required to show their original documents for essential educational qualification at the time of interview/ written exam of the Ph.D. Program.
• A relaxation in marks/ grade during Master’s Degree for those belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer)/ differently-abled or any other category will be applicable as per the UGC notification 2016 or subsequent notification in effect at the time of interview.

• Candidates have to apply online on the website (https://thsti.in/application/jobs.php)
• Incomplete applications in any respect will be summarily rejected and no correspondence in this regard will be entertained.

Selection Procedure

Group – A (With Fellowship):

• The shortlisted candidates will be called directly for the interview. The list of selected candidates will be published on the THSTI’s website tentatively by 27th December, 2023.
• Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The tentative date of the interview will be 16th and 17th January, 2024 at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.

Group – B (Without Fellowship)

• The list of shortlisted candidates will be published on the THSTI’s website tentatively by 27th December, 2023. The shortlisted candidates will be called for the written exam tentatively on 13th January, 2024 at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.
• The candidates who will qualify the written exam will be called for the interview. Selection will be made based on the applicant’s performance in the interview. The tentative date of the interview will be 15th January, 2024 at Translational Health Science and Technology Institute, NCR – BSC, 3rd Milestone, Faridabad – Gurgaon Expressway, Faridabad – 121001.
• Fellowship as per the institutional policy will be awarded to the selected students.

Fellowship

• Fellowship as per the institutional policy will be awarded only to the selected students who don’t have their own fellowship.
• Hostel: Selected students will have the option of shared hostel accommodation in lieu of their HRA.
