Category – I

Application will be invited from candidates who have been awarded Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) through UGC/CSIR/ICAR/ICMR/DBT/DST-INSPIRE under Category-I, for admission into PhD Programme under the following Faculties –

Eligibility Criteria for Osmania University PhD Admission 2023

• To be eligible to appear for Ph.D. Entrance Test – 2023 being conducted by Osmania University in the subjects pertaining to faculties mentioned above, a candidate must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree from a recognized university or a Post-Graduate degree through distance mode from a recognized university and approved by the concerned authority, in the concerned subject or in an allied subject (see Annexure-II for the list of allied subjects) approved by Osmania University securing not less than 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST/BC/PWD candidates). If the results of Post Graduate Degree are declared in the form of Grades/Credits/Cumulative Grade Points/Average in their marks card/Transcripts, such Grades/Points shall be converted into percentage of marks to assess the minimum eligibility criteria.
• The candidates have to appear in the Ph.D. Entrance Test in the subject in which they wish to pursue Ph.D. (For e.g. A candidate with M.Com. qualification may pursue Ph.D. in Business Management provided he/she appears and qualifies in the Ph.D. Entrance Test in the subject of Business Management).
• However, the following categories of the candidates are exempted from appearing in the Ph.D. Entrance test.
  • Those who are awarded Junior Research Fellowship in a national level test namely UGC/ CSIR/ ICMR / ICAR / DBT/ INSPIRE fellowships
  • However, if any of the above category candidates wishes to get admission in Category II, then he/she needs to get through the O.U. Ph.D. Entrance Test – 2023.

Note:

• The eligibility of the candidates is not being verified at the time of application and or at the time of issuing of hall tickets. Therefore, it is the candidate’s responsibility to ensure that he/she is eligible for the Ph.D. programme in a subject in which he/she is applying.
• The candidates those who are pursuing Post Graduate degree and whose results are not declared are NOT ELIGIBLE.

• For online application, list of subjects, syllabi, registration fee, and other Rules & Regulations, candidates are advised to visit the websites: www.osmania.ac.in and www.ouadmissions.com.
• The Registration fee for online submission of application form is Rs.1500/- (Rs.1000/- in case of SC/ST/BC/PWD candidates).

Osmania University PhD Entrance Test 2023 Details

(Expected Pattern)

• Test Pattern & the Medium of the Test: 
  • The Entrance examination is conducted through computer based test (CBT) mode for 70 marks as multiple choice questions (MCQ).  
  • The Entrance Test will consist of any 3 or 4 varieties of objective type items such as analogies, classification, matching, comprehension of a research study / experiment  / theoretical point of view, etc., with multiple answers besides the usual multiple  choice items. The MCQs will be framed only from the syllabus of Entrance test. 
• Medium of Entrance Test
  • The medium of Entrance Test will be in English only except for language subjects.
• Minimum Qualification Marks
  • The minimum marks for qualifying the Ph.D. Entrance Test shall be 50% (35 Marks) in case of Open category candidates and 45% (32 Marks) in case of SC/ST/BC/PWD category candidates.
• Hall Ticket
  • The Hall Tickets along with entrance schedules and necessary instructions will be made available in OU websites.
  • The candidates have to download the Hall Tickets and affix the latest passport size photograph (which is exactly similar to the one uploaded in the Online Application) in the space provided and get it attested by a Gazetted Officer / Principal of a college/ Head of the Department.
  • Without the Hall Ticket, the candidate is not allowed to appear for entrance test.
