NIT Manipur PhD Admission 2024 (Jan) Eligibility Criteria

Details of the departmental requirements

Department	Essential Qualifications
Civil Engineering	Master Degree in Engineering/Technology (or equivalent degree) with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or minimum 60% marks from a recognized University/institute ; GATE/NET- qualified candidates preferred. OR M.Sc./M.S. in the specified areas (GIS & Remote Sensing, Geo Informatics. Earth Science/Geology, Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Computer Science, Electronics) with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or minimum 60% marks from a recognized University/institute; GATE/NET- qualified candidates preferred. OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record, with a minimum 7.5 CPI/CGPA or 70% of marks from a recognized University/institute with valid GATE/NET score
Computer Science Engineering	Master Degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent in IT/CSE or in an appropriate area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or 60% of marks from a recognized University/institute. OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record with a minimum 7.5 CPI/CGPA or 70% of marks from a recognized University/institute and a valid GATE score.
Electrical Engineering	Master Degree in Engineering/Technology (or equivalent degree) in related area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or minimum 60% marks from a recognized University/institute OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record with a minimum 7.5 CPI/CGPA or 70% of marks from a recognized University/institute and a valid GATE score.
Electronics and Communication engineering	Master Degree in Engineering/Technology (or equivalent degree) in related area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or minimum 60% marks from a recognized University/institute OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology or MSc in related areas with an excellent academic record, with a 7.5 CPI/CGPA or 70% of marks from a recognized University/institute and a valid GATE/NET score.
Mechanical Engineering	Master Degree in Engineering/Technology (or equivalent degree) in related area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or minimum 60% marks from a recognized University/institute OR Bachelor Degree in Engineering/Technology with an excellent academic record with a minimum 7.5 CPI/CGPA or 70% of marks from a recognized University/institute and a valid GATE score.
Physics	Master Degree in Science in an appropriate area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or 60% of marks from a recognized University/Institute. GATE/NET qualified candidates preferred.
Chemistry	Master Degree in Science in an appropriate area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or 60% of marks from a recognized University/Institute.
Mathematics	Master Degree in Science in an appropriate area with a minimum 6.5 CPI/CGPA or 60% of marks from a recognized University/Institute. GATE/NET qualified candidates preferred.
Humanities and Social Sciences	Master Degree in an appropriate area with a minimum 6.0 CPI/CGPA or 55% of marks from a recognized University/Institute. GATE/NET qualified candidates preferred.

Relaxation in marks/CPI/CGPA

The minimum CPI/ CGPA/ marks percentage shall be relaxed by 0.5 CPI/ CGPA or 5 percent in case of candidates belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC (NCL) /PwD categories.

NIT Manipur PhD Admission 2024 (Jan) Application Process

Application can be submitted online or offline mode.

Application forms is available for downloaded from the website of NIT Manipur.

APPLICATION CHECKLIST

Photocopy of marks sheet/Grade card of the secondary, higher secondary board and other university examinations.
Photocopy of proof of date of birth.
Photocopy of proper category (OBC/SC/ST/PH etc.) certificate from the competent authority.
Form I/II/III/IV (as per notification)
Scan copy of recent photographs.
Scan copy of signature.
Scan copy of valid gate score for UG qualified candidates.
Scan copy of GATE/NET
Transaction details of application fee.

& others documents as mentioned in notification.

Selection Procedure

The selection process written test and/or interview will be conducted in offline mode only.

Written test and interview will be conducted for non-GATE and non-NET candidates through offline mode. Only interview will be conducted for GATE and NET qualified candidates through offline mode.

As no separate Admit Card is issued for the Written Test, hence the candidates are directed to bring any standard Photo I-Card (in Original) with a photocopy thereof, such as, Aadhaar Card, PAN Card, EPIC, Driving License, I-card issued by their Employer, or any Govt./ Public Sector Organization etc.

Syllabus for Entrance Examination

The entrance exam syllabus will be the GATE syllabus of the concerned discipline or syllabus prescribed by the concerned departments.

Stipend/Financial Assistance

For regular students (NET/GATE or equivalent) as per MHRD rules.

The candidate with no GATE/NET will be in self sponsored category.
