IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2024-25 Eligibility Criteria
- The eligibility conditions given below are the absolute minimum. Departments may prescribe any requirements over and above.
- The specified minimum marks/CPI (Cumulative Performance Index), referred to in subsequent sections, implies a minimum of 55 percent marks /5.5 (on a 10 point scale) as long as it is not less than the minimum pass marks/CPI; otherwise, the specified minimum marks/CPI implies the minimum pass marks/CPI.
| Master of Technology (MTech) | (i) A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) or a Master’s degree in Science with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum. (ii) A valid GATE score is required for admission to the MTech programme in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with the B Tech/BS (Four Year) degree from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B Tech/BS (Four Year). |
| Master of Technology (MTech) in Cybersecurity | (i) A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) or a Master’s degree in Science with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum. | Master of Technology (MTech) in Unmanned Aerial Systems Engineering | Discipline: Aerospace, Electronics, Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Control, Computer Science, Avionics, Textile Engineering, Civil, and Communication Engineering. (i) A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science (4-year programme) or a Master’s degree in Science with marks/CPI not below the specified minimum. (ii) A valid GATE score is required for admission to the MTech programme in the case of regular (non-sponsored) candidates. The requirement of GATE score is waived off for the candidates with the B Tech/BS (Four Year) degree from IITs with a minimum overall CPI of 6.5 and a minimum CPI of 8.0 in the last two years in B Tech/BS (Four Year). |
| Master of Technology (MTech) in Cognitive Systems | B.Tech./BE (any branch), BS 4year program (Physics/ Chem/ Math/ Stat/Biosciences/ related sciences). An applicant must have a minimum of 60% or 6.0/10 in the qualifying degree. All regular applicants must have a valid score/qualification in GATE. Applicants with B.Tech. from IITs with an overall grade point average of 6.5/10 or higher and 8.0/10.0 in the last two years. |

IIT Kanpur MTech Admission 2024 (July) Application Process
- The online applications portal will open in online mode.
- Those employed in industry or a college/university/institute may apply for admission as sponsored, external or part-time candidates.
- Separate application form is to be filled for each programme or department.
- MTech Admissions (Gate): All the admission offers to GATE qualified candidates will be displayed on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Candidates must register at the COAP portal for viewing and accepting their offers. Registration on COAP portal is free. Candidates are advised to download COAP 2024 information brochure and follow the guidelines available on COAP 2024 website for participation. For these candidates, COAP Registration number is mandatory for applying at the IIT Kanpur Admission Portal. The offers to candidates who have not qualified GATE will be communicated directly to the candidates by the department via E-mail.
- MTech (Non Gate)/MSR/ PhD/MSR/MDes/DIIT/ M.Sc. (2 Years)-Economics: Applicants are requested to register and submit their applications through link given on “apply online” page.
