CUSB PhD Admission 2023-24 Eligibility Criteria

• Master’s degree in the concerned/relevant/allied subject with 55% marks or equivalent in Master’s degree in Education from a recognized University/Institution.
• A Relaxation of 5% of marks from 55 to 50% or equivalent relaxation of Grade for SC/ST/OBC(Non creamy layer)/Differently abled candidates.

• Candidates have to apply online on the link available at university website or in notification.
• Candidates are required to upload recent passport size photograph, scanned signature and scanned copies of the supporting documents.
• Read instruction given there carefully before filling application form.

For Entrance Based Admission

• Central University of South Bihar will conduct written entrance test on 19.12.2023 for those candidates who have submitted online application within stipulated date followed by interview on 20.12.2023.
• To be considered for the interview, the candidate must obtain 50% marks for UR category and 45 % for OBC/ SC /ST/ EWS/ PwD in the written entrance test . However, obtaining the aforementioned marks shall not guarantee to be considered for Interview. The University can decide a higher cut off marks depending upon the number of qualified candidates in written test and available number of seats. For one seat three candidates shall be considered for interview.
• The candidates shall be required to produce their Original Certificate at the time of interview for verification. The verification of the certificate will be made in the concerned Departments before conduct of Interview on 20.12.2023.
• The candidates shall submit one set of self-attested photocopy of documents at the time of verification as mentioned at Annexure-II.

The pattern of written examination and interview are as follows:

• Test A: Assessment Research Methodology and Subject Knowledge
  • The syllabus of the Entrance Test shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific.
  • This written test is aimed to assess the reasoning, quantitative ability, general knowledge, language skill and subject knowledge of PG level. The qualifying marks for Test A shall be 50%.
  • A relaxation of 5% percent marks will be allowed in the entrance examination for the candidate belonging to SC/ST/OBC/PwD/EWS.
• Test B: Assessment of Research Aptitude through Research Plan and Personal Interview
  • The interview/interaction/viva-voce shall be of 100 marks consisting of the following aspects, viz. whether:
  • (a) 6-8 pages of research plan submitted satisfactorily defended by the candidate: 30% (15%+15%)
  • (b) The candidate possesses the competence for the proposed research and can contribute to new / additional knowledge/ depth of subject knowledge: 40% (20%+20%)
  • (c) Overall assessment of the candidate based on his/ her attitude, hardworking nature, dedication, responses, presence of mind etc.: 30%

Final Merit List

• The final merit list shall be prepared on the basis of 70% of the total marks obtained in the Test A (for University entrance examination qualified candidates) and 30% of the total marks obtained in the Test B.
• The cut off marks to be eligible for getting place in the merit list shall be 60% (for UR & EWS) and 55% (for OBC/SC/ST/PH) of the total marks obtained in the final merit list and it shall be determined in accordance with the number of vacancy available in the concerned discipline in that academic session. However, meeting the said minimum requirement will not guarantee admission for Ph.D. as it is dependent upon the position in the merit list and availability of vacant seats.

For Direct Admission

• Interview shall be conducted only of those candidates who have submitted the online application form and fulfilling the eligibility criteria.
• Interviews will be held in physical mode (offline) only, however, any candidate residing outside of the country may be allowed to appear in online mode in exceptional cases on his/her request and after approval of the Competent Authority.
• The Interview of 100 marks shall be conducted of those candidates who have applied for Walk-in-Interview for admission in PhD programme. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview shall be 60% (for UR & EWS) and 55% (for OBC/SC/ST/PH). However, meeting the said minimum requirement will not guarantee admission for Ph.D. as it is dependent upon the position in the merit list and availability of vacant seats.
• The interview/interaction/viva-voce shall be of 100 marks consisting of the following aspects, viz. whether:
