Eligibility Criteria

Master’s degree in the concerned/relevant/allied subject with 55% marks in Master’s degree in Education from a recognized University /Institution (5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non Creamy layers)/SC/ST/PwD candidates and for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September, 1991).

Programme Wise Eligibility

  • Ph.D. in Anthropology: Any candidate with 55% marks in Post-Graduation in Anthropology from a recognized University/ Institution [5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/SC/ST/PwD candidates and for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991].
  • Ph.D. in Economics: Any candidate with 55% marks in Post-Graduation in Economics from a recognized University/ Institution [5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/SC/ST/PwD candidates and for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991].
  • Ph.D. in Journalism & Mass Communication: Any candidate with 55% marks in Post Graduation in Journalism & Mass Communication from a recognized University/ Institution [5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/SC/ST/PwD candidates and for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991].
  • Ph.D. in Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources: Any candidate with 55% marks in Post-Graduation in subjects like Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources, Botany, Zoology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Biophysics, Forestry, Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Environmental Science, Marine Biology, Molecular Biology and Genetics from a recognized University/ Institution [5% relaxation will be given to OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/SC/ST/PwD candidates and for those who had obtained their Master’s degree prior to 19th September 1991].

Selection Process

  • Admission to PhD Programme shall be of the two-stage process
    • Entrance Test
    • Interview
  • 70% weightage from written entrance test and 30% weightage from Viva Voce test. NET qualified candidates are exempted from written test; however, their NET score will be considered as written score.

Central University of Odisha PhD Entrance Test 2022 (Sept) Details

The venue for written entrance examination shall be in the Central University of Odisha, Main Campus, NAD Sunabeda, Koraput-763004, Odisha.

Syllabus for Written Entrance Test:

  • There shall be 100 MCQs having two sections for each programme. Section -1 shall be 50 MCQs covering research methodology and Section -2 shall be 50 MCQs covering concerned PG syllabus (mostly UGC NET syllabus) for Written Entrance Test for admission in Ph.D. in Anthropology, Economics, or Journalism & Mass Communication.
  • For Written Entrance Test for admission in Ph.D. in Biodiversity & Conservation of Natural Resources, the section-1 shall cover questions from research methodology and section-2 shall cover questions from CSIR NET Syllabus for Life Science and UGC NET Syllabus for Environmental Studies.
