AIIMS Rishikesh PhD Admission 2025 (Jan) Eligibility Criteria
- For Medical Sciences
- MBBS /BDS degree or equivalent with minimum of 55% aggregate marks or Equivalent percentile in Professional examinations
- MD/MS/MDS/DM/MCH in Subject concerned or Diplomate of National Board of Examinations or equivalent degree recognized by MCI/DCI.
- Master degree after BAMS, BHMS, BNYS for PhD in AYUSH.
- For Nursing
- Candidates holding MSc degree with minimum 55% aggregate marks or equivalent percentile in Nursing specialty will also be eligible for PhD admission in College of Nursing.
- For Non – Medical
- Master degree (02-year course) awarded by Indian University or equivalent in subject as per requirement of project. Candidates holding MSc (Other than MSc Nursing), M Biotech/ M Tech degree / M Com / MBA/ MPH will be eligible for non-medical qualification category as per AIIMS Delhi.
- Candidates possessing Master’s Degree through distant learning course shall not be eligible.
- Relaxation in Qualification
- A relaxation of 5% of marks from 55% or an equivalent relaxation of percentile / grade, may be allowed for those belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/Differently-Abled and female Candidates.

AIIMS Rishikesh PhD Admission 2025 (Jan) Application Process
- For applying for admission to PhD Course each candidate is required to fill the form available on the website.
- He/She is ALSO required to submit hard copy of duly-typed and signed application form provided as a MS word document file on the website to Dean (Exam), AIIMS, Rishikesh, Veerbhadra Marg, Rishikesh 249203 through registered post/ speed post.
- Candidate should fill in the Form taking utmost care. Candidate should fill in the Application form correctly. Incorrect filled form may lead to rejection.
- No candidate should register more than one application.

Selection Process
- All Internal and External candidates (Medical, non-medical, in-house, in-service, transfer-in etc.) will have to appear in two stages of entrance exam:
- Stage 1: Written entrance Exam
- Stage 2: Departmental assessment and interaction with IRRB.
AIIMS Rishikesh PhD Entrance 2025 (Jan) Details
Stage I: Written Entrance Exam
Written Entrance Exam will comprise of 200 Questions of 3 hours duration of 200 Marks.
Evaluation Procedure: Each correct (MCQ) answer will be awarded 1 mark. More than one answer will be treated as wrong answer. Zero mark will be given for questions not answered or marked for review.

Candidates must score at least 50% marks in Stage I to be eligible for Stage II of entrance exam.
Special Weightage
- Medical / Dental/ Nursing candidates: 10 marks as special weightage extra will be added to total score of Candidates who fulfil both the following criteria:
- Those candidates who have scored at least 50% in Stage I.
- They hold a Medical Degree (MBBS/ BDS/ MDS/ DNB/ MD/ MS/ DM/ M.Ch.) or M.Sc. (Nursing).
- Non-Medical candidate: 10 marks will be added to the total score of Stages I and II for candidates who fulfill both the following criteria:
- They are eligible for stage II .
- Candidates who have qualified the National Entrance Tests in last 2 years (July 2021 to July 2023) leading to the award of a fellowship viz. SRF/JRF from any Government organization viz. CSIR, DBT, DST, UGC etc. tenable at AIIMS Rishikesh.
Candidates must score at least 50% marks in Stage I to be eligible for Stage II of entrance exam.
Final Score will be computed as follows:
- 80% – Entrance Examination Score
- 20% – Departmental assessment & interaction with IRRB
