Eligibility Criteria for GADVASU PhD Admission 2021
- College of Veterinary Science
- A Master’s level degree (M.V.Sc.) in the respective/related discipline and B.V.Sc. & A.H. or equivalent degree with a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent at Master’s level and minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or 55% marks or an OGPA of 2.00/4.00 or equivalent at Bachelor’s level.
- College of Fisheries (Aquaculture and Fisheries Resources Management)
- A Master’s level degree (M.F.Sc.) in respective/related discipline with a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent and a minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or 60% marks in BFSc-4 years Program.
- College of Dairy Science & Technology (Dairy Technology)
- A Master’s level degree (M.Tech) (Dairy Technology)/related discipline (M.Sc. Food Sciences / M.Tech, Food Tech) or equivalent with a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent and a minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or 60% marks respectively.
- Dairy Engineering
- A Master’s level degree M.Tech. (Dairy Engineering)/ M.Tech (Processing and Food Engineering), M.Tech (Food Engineering) with a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent at Master level. They should have a minimum OCPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or 60% marks respectively.
- Dairy Microbiology
- A Master’s level degree M.Sc. / M. Tech, Dairy Microbiology/Food Microbiology / M.Sc. (Microbiology), M.Sc./M.Tech. Food Safety and Quality Assurance / Food Safety and Quality Management / M.V. Sc. Microbiology or equivalent decree with a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks or equivalent degree with minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 60% marks respectively.
- Agricultural Economics (Animal Husbandry)
- A Master’s level degree M.Sc./M.V. Sc. in Agricultural Economics / Dairy Economics or M.A. in Economics with minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks and a minimum OCPA/OGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or 60% marks respectively.
- College of Animal Biotechnology Animal Biotechnology / Biotechnology
- A Master’s level degree in Animal Biotechnology/Veterinary Biotechnology/Biotechnology/any branch in Veterinary Science/Fisheries/Life Sciences and B.V.Sc. & A.H. or B.Sc. (Biotechnology/Medical) or B.SC. (Hons) Biotechnology /Biochemistry/Microbiology & Molecular Genetics or equivalent degree with a minimum OCPA of 7.00 (out of 10.00) or 70% marks and a minimum OCPA/OGPA of 6.00 (out of 10.00) or 60% marks respectively..

Selection Process
Eligible candidates resident of Punjab and Union Territory of Chandigarh will be considered as per the merit based on cumulative score derived from marks obtained in qualifying examination and in the interview as per the following formula:
Cumulative score = (80 × A) + B 100
Where A = Percent marks obtained in the qualifying examination
B = Marks obtained in the interview out of 20
To be eligible for Ph.D. admission, a candidate must secure a minimum of 50% marks in the interview.
The vacant seats, thereafter, if any, will be offered to candidates from other states (who have already applied and appeared in the interview) as per above said merit list.
Note –
- Selection to the PhD Program will be done based on the merit of the marks of qualifying examination (80%) and interview (20%)
- For the purpose of admission to PhD program, an in-service candidate shall be an employee of the University, national institute, Punjab Govt./Union Territory of Chandigarh and Central Government having five years’ experience of teaching/research/extension in the respective field. Candidates will be accepted only if duly nominated by their respective parent department/institute as in-service candidate.
- In Dairy Microbiology, candidates having M.Tech. (Dairy Microbiology) will be preferred. The selected candidates shall have to deposit the entire fee immediately after interview/counseling, failing which, the seat will be offered to the next eligible candidate.
